Domanda allo sviluppatore del widget "ScreenShot Plus": Steven Chaitoff

Abbiamo spesso parlato del widget ScreenShot Plus, e abbiamo sempre cercato di omaggiarlo in tutti i modi. Recentemente, effettuando dei test, abbiamo notato che qualcosa non andava, infatti nonostante l'istantanea di uno schermo a 1024x768 risultasse delle giuste dimensioni, risultava abbastanza sgranata come immagine. Abbiamo mandato una e-mail in inglese allo sviluppatore del widget, cioé Steven Chaitoff che ci ha prontamente risposto spiegandoci che non si tratta di un bug. Di seguito vi pubblichiamo l'email arrivata:

Thanks for writing. I can't figure out why this could
be. The widget returns captures the with the same
pixel height and width as the screen, so for example,
a full screen capture of a 1024x768 monitor will be
1024x768 pixels. Most, if not all, Apple monitors are
100 dpi, and the widget captures at 72 dpi, so the
print size is modified. However, the captures are not
resampled or changed in any way, so the resolution
will be no different than the screen size itself.
What resolution do you think your captures are coming
out to be? I don't mean to doubt you, but my widget
doesn't actually handle resolution and the like.
Things like that are taken care of a screencapture
utility built in to Mac OS X, that my widget just
"piggybacks" off, and I am certain that the utility
does not have a bug of this sort.

Se siete riusciti a tradurre il testo, avete sicuramente capito che si tratta di una riduzione di dpi che il widget stesso effettua. Infatti nonostante il monitor dei mac sia a 100dpi, il widget per alleggerire l'immagine in uscita diminuisce ulteriolmente i dpi portandoli a 72. Speriamo che se qualcuno dei nostri lettori abbia notato gli stessi problemi, grazie a questa email si sia tranquillizzato.
